RE:
CHANGES IN LAUGHLIN TRASH COLLECTION
(November 27th, 2009)
My understanding from the Town Advisory Board Meeting was all that was needed to bring the new recycle program to Laughlin was a letter from the Town of Laughlin requesting the program. So I assumed that a real quest to get Laughlin's true response would be launched. By your article it appears that the Town Board thinks that they represent the people of Laughlin and were going to act in their behalf. Are they now the City Council? I don't remember voting them in to office.

Mr. Pilj I appreciate your taking the time to write and criticize. We both certainly seem to be in agreement with the notion that the current Laughlin Town Advisory Board has no moral or electoral legitimacy. To be blunt, yes the Board does think they represent the people of Laughlin. They don’t, but they think it nonetheless. This is not a new issue in our town and I’ve certainly fired more than my fair share of broadsides since the taking away of our voting rights at what has come to be known as the Occupation. [Editor’s Note – Readers of The Laughlin Herald can peruse our archives for numerous articles on this subject]. Only by getting back the right to vote will that problem be solved. On a practical matter, I didn’t think the town should lose out on the opportunity for improved refuse collection service just because four people sold their morals for a seat on the Board. Mr. Coyle’s presentation was provided to the town staff in writing in electronic form and will be available online when the October minutes are posted at http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/administrative_services/Laughlin/Documents/TAB_Minutes.pdf however at this time the September minutes are still up.
